How to Get Website Traffic for Free

Share

The idea of getting website traffic for free is always appealing. After all, you should be able to make money out of the average website visitor, whether that’s by them clicking on adverts or (better still) paying you for products or services that you sell directly or via a commission program.

Of course, apart from the air we breathe, nothing in life is really free. Which means that you’ll probably be trading your time to create whatever it is that is getting you the free traffic. But that goes for anything.

My Hosting Issues – Moving Host from 1&1

Share

For more years than I care to remember, most of my websites have been hosted by 1&1 Internet.

They’ve had their ups and downs but have generally been OK so long as there have been no problems (sound familiar?)

When there have been problems, they’ve been resolved. But not fast. Support used to be UK based although (because they didn’t pay high wages) not necessarily with someone whose first language was English. Now it’s somewhere in the world – I’ve no idea where but the accents don’t sound Indian so I’d guess maybe the Philippines.

Anyway…

At 02:37 on 30th April their automated system sent me an email saying there was a problem with one of my sites. Their system thought it had been hacked and that one page (out of several thousand on that site) had a problem.

Is Buying Website Traffic a Good Idea?

Share

One of the things that’s difficult to get on the internet is traffic. There are millions of websites and billions of pages which makes finding the pages on your site more difficult that finding a needle in a haystack. Depending on how you tackle things, it can take a year or more before you start to see anyone other than yourself and some friends in your server logs.

If you’re not providing a local business, it can be tempting to look at offers that claim to send thousands or even millions of visitors to your website.

After all, if you’re buying that many visitors, it stands to reason that some of them will sign up to your newsletter or buy something from you.

Or does it?

How Can You Learn Internet Marketing Fast?

Share

Internet marketing is a big subject. It’s not the same as learning to drive a car where there are relatively few things to work out, instead it’s got a lot of components. The good news is that you don’t need to learn all of them before you start potentially earning some cash from your activities.

Decide which area interests you

Don’t focus on the money at this stage.

Choosing an Affordable Internet Marketing Coach

Share

When it comes to choosing a coach – whether it’s for internet marketing or anything else – the price is very elastic. Some coaches underprice themselves either deliberately or otherwise. Other coaches seem to turn their telephone number into the price.

Whether any of those prices are affordable will depend on your current circumstances and also where you want to get in your internet marketing.

Coaching can take many different forms. In approximately ascending price order, here are the main ones:

Copywriting Ideas for Your Sales Letter

Share

For a lot of people, the idea of writing copy for their sales letter fills them with dread. They then either make a half hearted job of the sales letter (always assuming that it’s not used as an excuse to procrastinate on the product launch) or hire in an expert to write the sales letter for them.

Copywriting is a skill that can be learned and the good news is that you don’t have to be the world’s greatest copywriter to make at least some sales.

These ideas should help you write at least a half-way decent sales letter for your product.

Digital Product Creation: Keep It Easy for People!

Share

One of your main jobs when you create a digital product is to keep things as easy as possible. There was a tagline for an advert a while back that said “because life’s complicated enough” and that’s true for near enough all of us, near enough all the time.

We look for time savers and things to uncomplicate our lives – even if we end up buying expensive gadgets that we don’t really know how to use and that sometimes complicate more things than they solve. Admit it, most of the features on your mobile phone are still completely unused!

That’s actually the dilemma.

Pricing for Profit: What Price Should You Charge?

Share

Pricing is an art, not a science.

There’s no fixed answer to the question of what price to charge. The answer is a massive “it depends”.

You only have to look as far as something as near-enough universal as soft drinks to see this.

The unit size can affect price – soft drinks are generally more expensive per litre the smaller the serving size but that’s not always the case.

For instance, where you’re buying your drink will affect the price as well. Supermarkets are generally the cheapest, elsewhere the price will vary.

Pricing Psychology: Using Magic Numbers in Your Pricing

Share

Pricing is more of an art than a science. Certain prices get accepted over time as being psychologically important. But unless you run your own pricing experiments you’ll just be following the crowd.

Earl Nightingale said “Whatever the great majority are doing, do the opposite.”

And there’s a lot of truth in that matter.
