When you create an info product, it’s best to have some kind of checklist to make sure that you don’t miss out anything important. Otherwise you run the risk of missing out a step which could either make the product less valuable than it would otherwise be or reduce your sales.
Below are the things I always check when I’m creating an info product:
- Choose your product niche area. Don’t be afraid to narrow this down to one specific task, especially if this is destined to be an entry level product.
- Do any necessary research. Check forums and question/answer sites to make sure that you cover things that are important to your market right now.
- Decide on your product format and structure. PDF ebook, audio, video, drip feed website or autoresponder sequence.
- Sketch out what each section of your product will include. This is a good way of spotting what you’ve missed or where there needs to be a change in the order of the things you’re presenting/
- Actually create your product. If you’re using multiple files, keep the file names neat rather than cryptic so that you’ll remember what they were about if you need to come back to them. File 1, file 2, etc is not a good idea!
- Create your sales letter. This could be as simple as using a free online sales letter creator to help you or you may need to write a sales letter from scratch. Or you may consider a professional copywriter if your budget extends to that.
- Optionally, get some graphics created for your sales page. Not every sales page or products needs graphics, so this is up to you.
- Upload all the files to your host, create your (protected) download page and test that all the links work.
- Create an autoresponder series to send to people who need more than the sales page to convince them to buy.
- If you’ve got a subscriber list and your product lends itself to this, consider a pre-launch campaign to whet people’s interest.
- Consider searching for joint venture partners and/or affiliates to help generate some “noise” and sales for your product. If you go down this route, you’ll almost certainly need to produce some swipe files for your partners and affiliates to use.
- On launch day, start promoting! And encourage your partners and affiliates to promote as well. Remember that not all affiliates who agree to join your launch will actually do so – they forget, life gets in the way, etc.
- Be on line during and for several hours after the launch. There are often minor glitches and bugs that will need sorting out that you won’t find until you actually launch, no matter how much you prepare.
- Follow up with your email list, partners and affiliates to keep the buzz going and generate as many sales as possible.
- If the info product isn’t just available for a limited period, develop an ongoing promotional campaign for it so that you continue to get sales.
- Depending on feedback, create a “part two” in the series and launch that!
