Are You Taking Action Every Day?

Taking action is something we all need to do in life, not just in our internet marketing.

If we don’t keep moving, we become stagnant and (at best) stay still or (more likely) go backwards.

That can manifest itself in lots of different ways:

  • Being stuck in the same routine we’ve had for years
  • Being bored or at best indifferent to what’s happening around us
  • Brushing off new things and staying with the tried and trusted – that can work but it can also relegate us (hang on, I’ll send you this message by telegraph)
  • Our competition passes us by and we blame some factor other than the real one that we’ve done nothing

The list is endless.

Things are forever changing, faster than ever nowadays.

The pace of innovation is getting faster and the things we take for granted now would have been pure science fiction when I was younger.

The internet moves at an incredible pace – since it started, we’ve moved from static sites with a phone number if you wanted to buy something to the full-on multimedia experiences that respond according to the decice you’ve using that are commonplace today.

All of which combines to mean that if you’re not taking action each and every day, you’re moving backwards.

Think of it as walking up a down elevator. If you don’t keep walking you’ll end up at the bottom and it takes quite an effort to stay in the same place let alone reach the top.

And, yes, I know that walking up a down elevator isn’t exactly the most intelligent option in real life unless you’re young and want a challenge. But it’s still a good analogy.

Which means you need some kind of plan to keep you taking action.

For me, it’s do at least something towards my internet marketing first thing near enough every day.

Usually that’s write an email and turn it into a blog post.

Other things are on my “to do each day” list and some of them get done most days. But the daily message and content gets done (action taken) early on. Usually even before the first cup of coffee and often in true internet marketing “lifestyle” style before I’ve got dressed.

If you’ve not already done so, take a few minutes to work out what you need to be taking action on day in, day out.

Then consciously make it part of your daily routine until it becomes habit.

It’s well worth doing because the side effects of taking action heavily outweigh the supposed benefits of doing nothing.
